The 2015 vintage was one of exceptional quality. One of the earliest Oregon harvests on record, the warm and dry growing season helped the fruit to ripen early, avoiding any of the challenges a later harvest brings. The 2015 wines are marked by the ripeness of the vintage, with the Pinot noirs displaying beautiful color, dark fruit aromatics and nice structure. The white wines show nice freshness and aromatics more of the stone fruits: pears, nectarines, peaches. The most stunning fruit came from the oldest sites on Laurelwood soils. A Second Harvest?
Today marked a first in Ponzi Vineyard's 45-year history. Just as Harvest 2015 comes to a close, Luisa Ponzi called for a second harvest from the Pinot noir planted at Avellana Vineyard.
2015 Harvest is “Gorgeous”
As of today we have about 30% of the Pinot noir and 50% of the Pinot gris in and processed.
What happens during harvest… well, you know the rest.
