Charity of the Month: LIVE

Posted Thu, June 01, 2017 in All Posts, Winery Update

Our June Charity of the Month is LIVE. Since 1999, LIVE has independently certified the sustainable practices of winegrowers in the Pacific Northwest, using the latest in university research and internationally accredited standards. They provide important regional education to preserve the human and natural resources of the wine industry.

All four Ponzi vineyard sites were certified by LIVE in 2000. The certification recognizes compliance with specific sustainable agricultural practices and products. In 2008, the new Ponzi Vineyards winery, Collina del Sogno, became one of the first Oregon wineries to be recognized as LIVE Certified Sustainable. LIVE focuses on these Vineyard properties:

PRESERVATION — Native habitat, watershed quality, and wildlife are protected and improved through rigorous biodiversity requirements and whole-farm certification.
SOCIAL ISSUES — Worker health and safety standards and good neighbor policies are an important function of our rigorous vineyard and winery standards.
CERTIFICATION — Cutting-edge third-party certifications that address issues ranging from energy and greenhouse gas reduction, to water and waste management, to materials sourcing.
COMMUNITY — A healthy, vibrant community that actively works to improve the quality of the natural and built environments in which they live and work.

We are proud to support LIVE, Inc. throughout the month of June and every day, as we ensure the health of our precious land for years to come.
